The Dapper Lad Recommends: The Wire
Posted in The "Arts", The Dapper Lad Recommends with tags The Dapper Lad Recommends, Pour it!, San Francisco Cocksucker, The Wire on July 14, 2008 by Bill ArkansawOK, we realize that recommending a show that is already off the air is a little (fine, a lot) like recommending this sweet jam band that we just came across called the Grateful Dead, but it is so unbelievably good. The first episode is a little heavy handed and it left us wondering about the taste of dozens of reviewers and many friends whose opinions are generally spot on. But then it starts getting better and better and then like a crackhead in the towers you are hooked. This opening sequence from the start of the 8th episode of the 2nd season (the one in the port) (NSFW after McNulty asks if he can get scrapple with that)
is the best sequence we’ve seen on TV since the “San Francisco cocksucker” scene from Deadwood:
The Wire is an unbelievably strong show and we’re pumped for Generation Kill (done by the same guys) to come out on DVD or for one of our friends to get HBO.
In the words of McNulty: “Pour it!”
