Willie Mays Hayes Knows that You Can’t Steal First Base

I was at a party the other night and the challenge somehow became to name all the ways a guy can get to first base (in baseball you pervs) without getting a hit. As you can tell, I’m the life of pretty much any party that I attend. Anyways, we came up with 7 ways for a batter to get to first base without getting a hit. You try to do better.

1.) 1.) Walk

2.) 2.) Hit by Pitch

3.) 3.) Fielders Choice

4.) 4.) Error

5.) 5.) Dropped third strike

6.) 6.) Catcher’s Interference

7.) 7.) Fielder’s Interference

This may go under the category of too obvious– but you forgot “hit”

The list was for ways to get to first without getting a hit, so hit wouldn’t qualify.

Oh. Yeah. I suppose I didn’t read that part none too closely.

What about Runner’s interference? (Batted ball hits a runner in fair territory before the ball has had a chance to pass another infielder not including the pitcher). I guess that’s technically scored as a hit though, so maybe it doesn’t count.

Oh, and the omiscient “9.01c,” the rule that lets the ump award whatever the hell he feels like.

what about “asking politely”? i bet it’d work…but you’d have to ask SUPER nice
