Now I Get the Ragin’ Thing, Still Lost on the Cajun Part

Posted in 2008 Election on March 24, 2008 by dswidler

james_carville11.jpgBack when we were young and the 2008 Election was in its in early stages, we ran around and did crazy things. Stuff we’re not proud of; once we were drunk at a wedding and told people that we liked Bill Richardson for President. That was a long time ago.

Now that we’re in a serious committed relationship, we can look back at our mischievous youth and laugh.

Well, it turns out that our one time drunken fling is becoming friends with our significant other.

This really didn’t sit too well with the Clinton camp.

Here is what the Clintons’ consultant, James Carville, had to say about President Clinton’s former Secretary of Energy and UN Ambassador endorsing Obama.

“Mr. Richardson’s endorsement came right around the anniversary of the day when Judas sold out for 30 pieces of silver, so I think the timing if appropriate is ironic.”

Yikes.

We are almost sure that the Clintons have a giant ‘Dead to Us List’ nailed on their bedroom wall.

Rest assured, all ye toothless inbred men of West Virginia. Your hillbilly state is on the map.

March Madness Makes Us So Happy

Posted in Sports on March 20, 2008 by dswidler

Over the next four days we will become bleary eyed, ten punds fatter, and possibly single as we watch 48 games in a variety of bars and friend’s living rooms (we really need one of them TVs), and we are so excited we can hardly breathe. Please ignore our absolute glee, these are our favorite 48 hours of the year.

They are the reason we stockpile our sick days, and consequently why our entire office gets the flu in November.

We’ve only won one pool in our day, so we really aren’t that good at predictions. However, since Florida has won the last two championships, we went with them again….huh…what….really…oh…[f-bomb].

If you’re in Seattle look for us at Spitfire, the Village Pub, and the Attic. You gotta find bars that can show up to four games at once.

Also, you’ll probably spot us at our dentist and doctor’s office between games, hey, we’re using our sick days.

Five Years of Not Having Flowers Thrown at Our Troops

Posted in News on March 20, 2008 by dswidler

Here is my five year old. Thank you, he is adorable.

It was tough raising him on my own, I mean I really, really wanted one, I just didn’t really plan that well beyond that.

The first month was the easiest, it really didn’t take much effort, so I threw a huge graduation party for my little guy.

Then things started getting bad, his father took off pretty early when he found out that I lied about being on the pill, he kept getting into trouble, the first winter I didn’t get him warm enough clothes– I was in over my head. Plus I thought the little guy would immediately get a job and start paying for his own way, nope I’ve had to shell out a ton. He was losing his temper. Friends kept making suggestions, but I decided to stay the course with the little guy.

Finally I just hired about 100 baby sitters.

Honestly, I wish I could just abandon the thing, but then what?

Bear vs Bull

Bear Stearns got sold for $2 a share—that’s less than the IPO for my little sister’s lemonade stand went for in 1992.

Let’s take a look at their ticker chart over the last few months.

Historic Dapper Lad Post

This is the first post in the history of the Dapper Lad, and because of the significance that it carries we have decided to make an important, live defining statement: Fresh blueberries are tastier than frozen ones.
